Wed - Sat, 12 - 3 PM History of the Course The Tarpon Springs Golf Course is listed in the Florida Historic Golf Trail publication by the Florida Division of Historical Resources. Although the publication states the course was founded in 1912, we have historic news reports that date the course to 1908 making it one of the oldest golf courses in the state. Tarpon Springs Area Historical Society Founded in 1967, the Mission of the Tarpon Springs Historical Society is to collect, preserve, interpret and exhibit the history of the Tarpon Springs area and to promote education, research and preservation of historical points of interest.
