Holiday Tours at the Historic Safford House in Tarpon Springs

It’s a Great Time to Be a Tourist in Your Own Town!

The Halls are Decked with Christmas Cheer at the 1883 Safford House Museum

In a year that has no norm, no typical routine, no predictability, there are probably not many people that would object to a bit of Christmas cheer arriving a little early in this year of challenges. A favorite annual event in Tarpon Springs is the traditional Victorian Christmas Celebration at the Safford House Museum. The one-day event draws more than 230 visitors who enjoy the Christmas decorations adorning every room inside and the outside of the historic landmark. Since the pandemic prevents the December 2020 event, the “elves of Tarpon Arts” and our volunteers have beautifully decorated the Safford House, and it is ready to welcome Tarpon Springs’ residents and visitors beginning Wednesday, November 18 through Epiphany on January 6, 2021 for docent-led tours. Come be inspired by the holiday sparkle, and learn about the history of this grand home and the Safford family of Tarpon Springs.

The Safford House Museum is open Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM with docent led tours. Tickets are $5 per person for ages 18+ and as a special holiday gift for Tarpon Springs’ residents, the ticket price is only $3 per person for ages 18+. Tarpon Springs’ residents are asked to show a driver’s license or a form of identification to prove residency to receive the discount. Tarpon Arts members are free per their membership benefits. The final tour begins at 2:30 PM. Masks are required and group size is limited.

For more information, visit TarponArts.org or call 727.942.5605. The Safford House will be closed during City holidays: Nov. 26, 27; Dec. 24, 25; Jan. 1.
