SARASOTA, Fla. — U.S. News & World Report released its annual ranking of Best K-8 Schools this week, and two Tampa Bay-area elementary schools earned some pretty impressive scores.
Pine View School in Sarasota County and Tarpon Springs Fundamental in Pinellas County were both named among the top 10 elementary schools in Florida. The publication ranks K-8 schools based on their performance on state-required tests, graduation and how well they prepare students for high school….
Tarpon Springs Fundamental earned the No. 6 spot on the list of best elementary schools in Florida.
“At Tarpon Springs Fundamental Ele, 98% of students scored at or above the proficient level for math, and 92% scored at or above that level for reading,” the report said.
For context, the report found that for the entire state of Florida, 50% of students tested at or above the proficient level for reading, and 52% tested at or above that level for math.
