Meet the Saffords, considered the founders and one of the most prolific families in Tarpon Springs. Portrayed by local actors in period clothing and persona, Dr. Mary Jane Safford, Anson Safford, and Soledad Safford come to life with tales of their fascinating histories, including careers in medicine, politics and charity. Known as “The Golden Crescent” for its crescent-shaped waterways and revered for its healing waters, Spring Bayou has always had a magnetic pull. In the late 1800s, the nation’s wealthy began to winter here, living in gracious Victorian homes on old red brick streets.
